    Blackwater Wine

    Blackwater er etableret af Francois Haasbroek i 2010. Filosofien er at lave vin fra særligt udvalgte vinmarker fra hele Cape regionen. Vinmarker med vis karakter, som passer præcist med den vin Francois ønsker at lave. I kælderen er det minimum indblanding, eller som han siger "Det hele handler om druen, ingen wine-maker tricks - bare holde sig til basis og stor fokus på detaljen.".

    Blackwaters vine er atypiske oversøiske. Ofte lette og lyse i farven, men lad dig ikke narre, kompleksiteten er stor og hans vine sammenlignes ofte med de bedste franske.

    Catherine Marshall Wines

    Catherine Marshall is an icon in South African wine production. She has worked in Burgundy, Bordeaux, St. Emilion, California, Oregon, Australia, and, of course, South Africa. She is particularly known for Pinot Noir, which is considered some of the best overseas Pinot Noir in the world.

    Catherine Marshall Wines started in 1996 as a gathering where Cathy and her friends barefoot crushed the first wine on the beach. Since then, it has grown rapidly, and her wines are now found in top restaurants, wine shops, and are a regular feature in the British Airways First Class selection.

    An icon is born

    In 1991, apartheid rule was coming to an end in South Africa, and the country was in a state of civil war. But there were also small bright spots in 1991. For Catherine Marshall, it was her graduation from the University of Wine Production. Catherine worked in local vineyards but sought inspiration outside the then-closed country and found jobs in Burgundy, St. Emilion, Oregon, California, and Australia, among others. She brought the inspiration back to South Africa when she started her own production in Barefoot Wine Co. in 1997, shortly after Mandela's inauguration. The company was the first to start the "garage wine" wave in South Africa, breaking away from high-tech production to embrace craftsmanship and emphasize the selection of grapes and the terroir as the soul of the wine. Cathy became the first woman with her own wine company.

    Since then, her work has been immensely successful, receiving countless top reviews and accolades. She is now known as the queen of Pinot Noir, and her Pinot has been recognized as the best South African Pinot Noir for several years in a row by Tim Atkin. She has received legendary 5-star ratings in the Platters Guide and has some of the most exclusive restaurants, hotels, and airlines on her client list.

    Cathy focuses on grapes from Elgin, which, with its cool climate, provides ideal conditions for growing complex, high-quality wines. The core is Pinot Noir, but she also produces fantastic Riesling, Chenin Blanc, and Merlot.

    Storslået Champagnehus i traditionsrige Ludes ved Riems. Familien har rødder i Ludes tilbage til 1737. I 1930 beslutter familiens daværende overhoved Ernest at begynde at producere Champagne. I dag ledes huset af 6. generation Jean-Guy Monmarthe.

    Monmarthe er internationalt anderkendt og opnår konstant flotte anmeldelser i bl.a. Guide Hacette des vins.

    Familien råder over 17 hektar 1. Cru vinmarker ved landsbyerne Ludes og Taissy i hjertet af Montagne de Reims. Champagne Monmarthe hører til de såkaldte ”vignerons indépendants” (uafhængige vinbønder) – dvs. vinbønder med egne marker, der selv står for alle etaper af produktionen og markedsføringen af champagne. Med deres formidable markbesiddelser og tæt på 200 års erfaring, er kvaliteten i top og vingården har desuden opnået ”Haute Valeur Environnementale” certificering – en udmærkelse der kræver en stor indsats af vingården mht. miljøvenlig drift, beskyttelse og øgning af biodiversiteten i markerne og CO2-venlig produktion med mere.

    Imagine a Nguni cow travelling through the Swartland on the back of a truck, on her way to an auction. Suddenly, she spots a beautiful vineyard and without hesitation, jumps off. The grower later finds her grazing among the vines and appropriately names her SURVIVOR.

    In the true spirit of the Nguni, our wines also start with a leap in the vineyard. We source grapes not only from the Swartland, but also from the Elgin Valley, Stellenbosch, Darling, Tradouw and Hemel-en-Aarde. This diverse range of regions brings unique complexity and diversity to the wines in the SURVIVOR Range.

    Our winemaker has debated intensely which regions possess the perfect balance of rainfall, clay, shale and granite content. The result is that opening a bottle of SURVIVOR allows you to experience the essence of these terroirs. Just like the Nguni cow that inspired them, SURVIVOR Wines are distinctly South African.
