Grapes from a vineyard almost 30 years old near Piketberg in the Swartland. The wine was matured for 10 months in old barrels. The nose is showing pear, citrus and white peach overlaid with subtle notes of hay and also just a hint of yeasty complexity. The palate has great fruit purity and coated acidity while the finish has some nice phenolic grip. It’s remarkably vivid Chenin Blanc and packed with detail.
Our crafted Chenin is meticulously grown in the cool Elgin Valley and a small portion from old bush vines in Stellenbosch and fermented in handmade, old world styled clay amphorae. These key attributes afford a wine with broad layers of ripe pears, fresh stone fruit and white flowers on a canvas of flinty, wet stone that contributes to the overall texture.
This wine has an attractive golden hue which indicates it’s a wine with great extract and intensity. The nose shows an array of attractive aromas of white nectarine and peach blossom with hints of almond. The palate is full bodied and layered with beautiful fruity flavours and soft wood spice. Some lemon cream nuances are left lingering on the fresh, rounded finish. A terroir driven wine!
