Rijks Reserve Chenin Blanc
This wine has an attractive golden hue which indicates it’s a wine with great extract and intensity. The nose shows an array of attractive aromas of white nectarine and peach blossom with hints of almond. The palate is full bodied and layered with beautiful fruity flavours and soft wood spice. Some lemon cream nuances are left lingering on the fresh, rounded finish. A terroir driven wine!

Taste
Golden hued and full bodied. This beautifully made wine has an attractive nose with combinations of tropical and yellow fruit aromas with nuances of cashew nuts. These flavours are supported on the palate by a delicate use of oak that allows the true cultivar characteristics to shine. It has a long lingering finish that exits the palate screaming for more.
Harvest
Grapes were night harvested and picked by hand to retain flavours.
Cellar
Grapes were gently crushed and pressed. This wine was fermented in 40% new, 40% 2nd fill and 20% 3rd fill 300 litre French oak barrels. This wine was 80% naturally fermented. A maturation period of 12 months was needed before this wine could be racked and blended.
Winery
"Up and coming" producent i Tulbagh i den centrale Cape/ Swartland region. Rijks har specialiseret sig i druerne Pinotage, Chenin Blanc.
Rijks er startet af Neville Dorrington tilbage i 1996. Neville havde arbejdet i 20 år inden for læderindustrien og havde lyst at prøve noget nyt. Derfor rykkede han og familien til den på det tidspunkt i vinverdenen ukendte Tulbagh. Her slog de sig ned på en gård, hvor der aldrig havde været dyrket vin før. Men analyserne viste, at forholdene var idelle til dyrkning med lavt udbytte og høj kvalitet.
Idag anses Rijks for et af de absolut bedste Pinotage huse i verden. De er et af blot to huse, som har opnået 10 ABSA Top 10 priser.
